Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of the Russian Section, the trainees will carry out different assignments given by trainers including:

a) simultaneous interpretation of speeches given in the different organs of the United Nations;
b) sight translation;
c) speed management; 
d) assignments preparation using UN reference documents, IT tools and glossaries.

Trainees are expected to sit for the next UN Russian booth Language Competitive Exam (LCE) at the end of the training period. The LCE is open to internal as well as external candidates.

Education
Candidates must hold a first-level university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) from a recognized school of interpretation in which at least one full academic year is devoted to interpretation and or a post graduate qualification in interpretation. Having passed a freelance examination at the United Nations or a comparable international organisation where Russian is an official language is an advantage.
Work Experience
Work experience is an advantage.
Languages
Candidates must have Russian as the main language and an excellent passive knowledge of English and French or Spanish.
Assessment
Once pre-screened, candidates will be given a two-part admission test, consisting of a simultaneous interpretation and a sight translation. Successful candidates will be invited to take a competency based interview.
